Kids For Healthy Food: Lesson Plan

The lesson provides students with basic nutritional knowledge and a guide for implementing it in daily life, supported by a snack sorting activity. Topics include:

  • The 6 essential nutrients
  • Whole and ultraprocessed foods
  • The metabolism of whole and ultraprocessed foods and the impact on our health
  • The physical, mental, and academic benefits of healthy food
  • How to read nutrition labels

Student take home new knowledge, tasty and nutritious snacks, as well as their own SMART goal focused on improving their wellbeing through nutrition.

Additionally, we have students fill out an anonymous survey to evaluate the effectiveness of the session. We share these results with educators and librarians!
